Not only is their work amazing as far as their stylists and barbers, but they make you feel like you're part of the family. My hair looks amazing right now after color was put in, but it was a rough beginning with some attitude and a lack of patience.

I almost walked out after Maria told me "You're trying to tell me what to do..." Of course I am. That is the customer's job to tell you what they want, like or dislike. I think it's empowering and respectful to allow a customer to ultimately decide what they want to do with his or her hair. Suggestions are very helpful, but ultimately the customer should decide.

I decided to stay this afternoon, but I was very uncomfortable the whole time :/

Larry is truly awesome at what he does, especially with curly hair. I've learned by many bad experiences that not everyone can cut curly hair and do a good job. Larry does a really good job! I do not trust anyone else cutting my hair and so, even though I don't live in Lubbock anymore, I still drive back and get him to cut my hair.

I honestly feel kinda bad leaving this review because they were very nice. However after choosing to come into this salon based off all the good reviews, I feel misled and am now left with what’s probably the most traumatic haircut of my life. When I walked in, the longest part of my hair almost hit my lower back, the kind of hair that people spend hundreds on extensions to get. I wanted to get some length off and had saved pictures for weeks of longer angled “bobs”. During my consultation the stylist wanted to put in layers and use their “special technique”. I merrily agreed believing I had clearly communicated my preference against large choppy layers and assumed I would end up with something similar to my pictures. I assumed wrong, very wrong. I was washed. The first snip I was asked where I would like the length to fall. That went well. After that is when disaster struck. I bleakly tried to smile through it, paid them $50, tipped $5, then went to my car and screamed.
Besides it just not being what I wanted, it is simply the worst haircut ever. Thanks to the “special technique” used, I now have a mullet. Again. Not one strand on my head is even with anything else. Like children have taken turns cutting off chunks of a sleeping substitutes hair. The blunt ends are getting easily and horribly tangled. It actually feels worse than my bleached dead ends felt in the shower
I also have what many would consider the worst case of “staircase layers” I’ve ever seen. Absolutely no blending, no thinning, and no measurements for evenness were taken. Just a bunch of bluntly cut pieces and “layers” here and there , without logic or reason.
Literally everything I asked to be avoided had just happened. Another crushing blow to an already struggling self-esteem. When reading the many self-help articles on this situation, a popular suggestion was to be honest with the stylist and let them attempt to fix it. I seriously considered it, but arrived at the decision to stay home. The first attempt went so horribly, I didn’t believe my situation could possibly be improved on the second.

(Google: reddit; not the layers she asked for) This is an only slightly exaggerated version of how I feel my hair looks now. I will now drive what’s left of my hair and dignity to a salon in Amarillo and hope for a miracle. I suppose my silver lining for this cloud is that my hair was not colored that fateful day.

The stylist at this salon are very nice, but I truly hope that “the layers technique” from hell is never used on a living head of hair again. After ditching that technique I would like to suggest they adopt another one called dry-cutting, especially after a wet cut. And please have your own pictures to show women so they can see exactly what your ideas are and know exactly what is about to happen to their hair. Should they follow these suggestions, there certainly is hope for them on improving future customers satisfaction.
