My family and I have been BEYOND patient dealing with this funeral home. I will explain our situation and let you readers make your own independent decision on our experience. In April 2024, my grandmother (Initials G.H.) passed away unexpectedly in her home. The Chatham County Coroner’s Office (Coroner David Campbell aka the same owner of this funeral home) arrived to remove my grandmothers body from her home. Our family repeatedly informed the staff that her death was suspicious, unexpected, and a result of food poisoning. The staff removing her body informed us that a partial autopsy (blood toxicology) would be conducted based on the circumstances surrounding the death. They informed us that it would take 6-9 months for the toxicology results to return (this was odd to us that it would take so long, however we were left with no other options except to wait on the results). Here we are in December 2024. 8 months after her death, we have had to make countless phone calls and emails to the Chatham County Coroner’s Office, Campbell & Sons Funeral Home, GBI Laboratory, etc. Only after filing a formal complaint against the Chatham County Coroner’s Office with GBI were we able to finally receive LIMITED information. The GBI Bureau of Investigations has informed us that the Coroner’s Office never sent any toxicology labs to be tested. In fact, they provided us with documentation indicating that my grandmothers case was closed in July 2024 without any autopsy or toxicology performed. This is infuriating as we now do not have an accurate cause of death. Not to mention, throughout this entire time, we have not received any death certificate. We have been unable to handle any business and/or affairs related to my grandmother because there is no official document indicating that she has passed away. GBI has had to step in and force the hand of the Coroner to process the death certificate with a cause of death that is not accurate nor factual. At this point, my family will never know the official cause of death of our loved one. David Campbell’s capacity as the Chatham County Coroner and owner/affiliation with this Funeral Home presents the appearance of a major conflict of interest. Who do we believe in this situation? If someone dropped the ball and made a mistake, just say that. Don’t give a griefing family the run around and play games. Also, I see the responses that this funeral home makes to other reviews who expose their shady practices. If y’all are not calling us directly to address this matter, KEEP THE RESPONSE - WE DON’T NEED TO BE EDUCATED WITH WORDS… WE WANT FACTS & RECEIPTS. (I’m sure I left some things out, will follow up with an update if needed.)

A person driving a truck with the Campbell and sons logo was driving erratically and cutting people off in traffic around Tallahassee. If the driving is any indicator I don't want someone who's going to rush to get my job done. I called to report to the number on the truck saying the driver was driving crazy, The gentleman on the phone who I assume is the owner told me to mind my own business.

I wish I could give this establishment ten stars. My father's burial was challenging because we live in NJ and he was in GA. Not only that his body had to be shipped back to Cameroon due to our traditional customs. I have never handled this. It involved so many layers( signed letter from mayor in city of burial, signed letter from the Ambassador of my country, etc). I was learning this process and they were so patient. He was in the funeral home for one month, but the day of his wake and shipment you would never know. They took amazing care of him. I'm eternally grateful and had to write this review. Do not think twice about using this establishment. They are amazing.
