Disappointing Experience with Poor Flexibility

I recently had an appointment with Gaston Ponte and arrived a bit late due to unexpected traffic caused by an accident on US 1. After waiting about 5 mins for the receptionist to assist the person checking in before me and despite me explaining the situation, the staff refused to see me and insisted I reschedule. I understand that punctuality is important, but traffic accidents are out of my control. What made it worse was the complete lack of empathy or flexibility. With a totally empty waiting room, I believe they could have made an effort to accommodate me, especially considering I had already waited months for the appointment. Very frustrating and unprofessional. I expected more understanding from a medical office.

The biggest issue is that Dr. Ponte does not listen. He interrupts often and makes assumptions without listening to the usually critical context. He made claims about my health and past diagnoses that he had no right to make based solely on me sitting in front of him and without any of my past test results, imaging, etc., and I think this is incredibly irresponsible. The one thing this doctor ignores is that healthcare is not one size fits all. I will be following up with a different provider.

If I can give no starts I would! Terrible. I have been trying for for 2 months to get an appointment. My records were received and said after they reviewed them they would see if the Dr. wanted me as a patient. Really? What if I don't want this Dr.? What about a patient/doctor consultation? I call every day asking someone to call me back - nothing - I want my records returned as I will not be using this office. - Terrible!!

Update: Left a message stating I was reporting this office if I didn't get a call back. They called me back and said they don't have any records...so, they lied stating they received them and that I had to wait for them to be reviewed!! Run away from this office!!

It’s been refreshing to see the care Dr Ponte puts in my healthcare. He’s careful to take the time to explain everything. He thoroughly explains the lab results and what they mean, how the body systems are interact and what means for me individually. I can tell there is prior planning that happens in preparation of my appointments. When my appointment card is handed to me with a written reminder to get my labs a week before my scheduled appointment and the referral is already made in advance, this impresses me because it makes me feel like he values my time as well as my care. Definitely a 10 Star Physician.

Dr. Ponte has been a blessing to me. From the moment that I first visited him, through my treatment, and now in my recovery and follow up, he has been nothing short of amazing. He is very personable, with a great bed side manner. I was impressed with his level of care as he is the kind of doctor that would have a great reputation in large cities...so having him in Brevard County is just awesome.

If I could give no stars I would. I had thyroid cancer. He did a biopsy and didn’t wait for the lidocaine to work and after the surgery gave me too much of the medication I need. He gave me 15mcg I’m no on 5mcg and he told me I felt weird because of my birth control. Just now getting it fixed a year later

Yesterday my mother got a call from one of Dr. Ponte’s staff, I won’t give her name but her initials were (MK) she was very rude to my mom she kept banging the phone in my moms ear either on a desk or something with metal but whatever it was it was very inappropriate. I have reported the same staff member before but it’s clear nothing has been done. My mom will not be going back to see Dr. Ponte as long as he keeps this same medical assistant, it’s sad to because Dr. Ponte is a great doctor but when your mother is treated horrible by staff you have to do what’s best for her.

My experience with this clinic was horrible. My purpose for the visit was because I have a tumor on my right adrenal gland. My first issue with this doctor was that my appointment was at 10 and I had to wait an eternity to see him. Second, he comes rushing as if he was running a marathon. During that quick session he is arguing with me that I have high blood pressure when my records clearly state that I don't have high blood pressure. His final diagnosis was that I have hyperglycemia, hypertension, and metabolic syndrome. When my primary doctor received these results he was appalled because of all the blood work I have done non of the came up. I went in for a second opinion I wasn't diagnosed with any of the above. Second, he sends me to do blood work, swab the side of my mouth, and collect my urine for 24 hours. He wanted to make sure I don't have cancer. Two weeks later his nurse calls me and tells me that my blood work came back positive. I asked positive for what and her response was "I don't know" the doctor didn't write what I am positive for and she said she would call me back. I waited around for a call and she called back two days later. She left a message telling me to discontinue the use of any over the counter medication I take for two weeks and then we will try to collect urine again in two weeks. I called back and as usual I'm leaving a message. I got a call two days later. Finally, I collected my urine for 24 hours and here I site 2 weeks later freaked out and no one has called me with any results. I called and once again left a message and two days has passed no one has returned my call.
